The Julie A. Bryant Foundation is saddened by the news that a recent beneficiary, Robert (Bob) Kushner, of Cranberry Township, has passed away. Bob, 53, died on Friday, January 20, 2017, while in hospice care in Lawrenceville.
Bob was first diagnosed in August 2013 with astrocytoma, an inoperable brain tumor, after he sought medical help for trembling in his hand. After a second tumor was discovered in September 2015, he was forced to quit work as a market research analyst for ACT Inc., the college testing company. Bob decided to stop treatments and enter hospice care in July.
Married for 26 years, Bob and Angela Kushner have two sons, Daniel, who is a freshman at Pennsylvania State University (Bob’s alma mater), and Michael, a sixth-grader at Evans City Middle School. Bob’s parents also live with the family.
The Bob and Angela Kushner family was one of two families being helped by the foundation. The other is the Frank and Michele Napoli family, also of Cranberry Township. Each received $1,000 in Giant Eagle gift cards in August 2016 and several additional gifts since then. The foundation also donated $2,000 to brain cancer patient Connor Patsilevas, 8, of Moon Township, shortly before he passed away in May 2016.
